Pennington Flash Country Park,  494 acres of country park located between Lowton & Pennington, Leigh in Greater Manchester. Pennington Flash is one of the North West's premier sites for birdwatching with over 230 species recorded, including many local and national rarities. now an extensive nature reserve with several bird hides and a network of tracks and footpaths, Pennington Flash Country Park is nationally renowned for its birdlife and is a classic example of natural regeneration. a variety of well-maintained paths cater for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. also ideal for disabled persons as the Flash's hides have ramps for wheelchair access.

Wigan Pier -  the birthplace of Northern Soul. Wigan Pier is the name given today to the area around the canal at the bottom of the Wigan flight of locks on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
